The Battlefields Park
The Battlefields Park, created in 1908 to mark the 300th anniversary of Québec's foundation, The park covers a surface area of 108 hectares and has close to 6,000 trees and shrubs belonging to over 80 species. The Battlefields Park, which groups together the Plains of Abraham and the Des Braves Park.
The plateau was the scene of a battle (Sept. 13, 1759) between the French under the Marquis de Montcalm and the British under James Wolfe in which both leaders were killed but which secured Quebec for the British.
Joan of Arc Garden was created in 1938 by landscape architect Louis Perron. Rectangular in shape and built slightly below ground level, it combines the French classical style with the British-style beds. Over 150 species of annuals, bulbs and, especially, perennials. From April to October.
History of the park
In 1908, the National Battlefields Commission (NBC) was given the mandate
to celebrate Québec’s Tricentennial and highlight the feats
of the two famous battles (in 1759 and 1760). Besides these eminent historical
facts, the Plains was the scene of many more historical events. Here is
a brief presentation of some of these facts and attractions.

Battles of 1759-1760
