Montcalm District is a predominantly residential area in downtown Québec. Sites of cultural interest include numerous art galleries, Henry-Stuart House, the larger part of Battlefields Park, where Musée du Québec and Edwin-Bélanger bandstand are to be found. The Grand Théâtre de Québec and Théâtre du Périscope are also located nearby, in Quartier Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
Montcalm District is also well provided in recreational areas. Residents have access to several parks, and are often seen strolling in Les Plaines d'Abraham (Battlefields Park), and Parc des Braves, among others. Sports and community activity facilities are provided by such institutions as Centre Lucien-Borne, Loisirs Montcalm, the YMCA, in addition to several parish halls and school playing grounds.
Avenue Cartier, one of the numerous quaint, animated streets in Quebec City, is the centre of commercial activity in Quartier Montcalm. A constant flow of local, regional, and tourist clientele keeps the sector bustling in and around its numerous restaurants, cafés, specialty shops, and trendy night spots.
